Various organizations across the country had called for a Bharat Bandh today against the Supreme Court’s decision on the creamy layer in Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe reservation. The effect of the bandh was seen in all 38 districts of Bihar. Trains were stopped at some places including Darbhanga, Madhubani, Motihari, Ara. In Darbhanga, protesters stopped the Sampark Kranti Express and started protesting. Due to this, passengers had to face a lot of trouble. In Motihari, protesters entered a bike showroom and beat up the employees. The bandh had a mixed effect in Bhagalpur, Banka, Begusarai, Ara, Buxar, Sasaram, Siwan, Bettiah, Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, Nalanda, Nawada, Vaishali. Protesters blocked the highway at many places. Due to this, common people had to face a lot of trouble.

Lathicharge in Patna and Jehanabad

Here, the protesters in Patna and Jehanabad became violent. The police tried hard to convince them but they did not listen. The crowd was coming from Patna University. By the time it reached GPO Golambar, the crowd got divided into two routes. Initially, the protesters in the form of a crowd from New Dakbungla Road reached the barricades raising slogans against the government, Supreme Court, Prime Minister and Chief Minister. The police stopped them for about 40 minutes. The police said that do not let the barricades affect you, while the crowd was trying hard to break the barricades. However, the protesters broke the barricades and ran towards the main square of Dakbungla. After this, the police resorted to lathicharge. The protesters left Dakbungla Chauraha at around 2 pm.

Pappu Yadav supported the shutdown

Independent MP Pappu Yadav has supported Bharat Bandh on the issue of reservation. He said that the government is conspiring to end reservation. Pappu Yadav said that this bandh is for social justice and equality. He talked about fighting against the end of reservation. Pappu Yadav said that reservation has brought about a change in the living standards of Scheduled Castes/Tribes, but it has not been evaluated. He accused Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Chirag Paswan, Jitan Manjhi, Chandrababu Naidu and Hooda of being anti-reservation. Pappu Yadav said that this bandh is not of any particular organization or party, but it is the fight of students and youth who have the idea of ​​social revolution. He said that he is standing with them today.
